Filed under: weddings — Lindsay @ 3:23 pm

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m a Calgary, Alberta, Canada based family, portrait and wedding photographer. I specialize in Children, couples and everyday lifestyle photography.

Why did you choose to become a photographer?
It forces me to stop and look at details, moments, nature and pay closer attention to my surrounding rather than rush through life with my head down. Plus you get to meet some really cool people along the way.

How long have you been a photographer?
Two years as a business, 20 years as a hobbyist.
How would you classify your style of photography?
I don’t know, people are always telling me how they love my style but I’ve yet to figure out what my style actually is. I would say that it’s whatever comes to mind at the time, I try not to limit myself to a specific style. But If I had to choose I would say it’s more traditional.

Who or what are some of your influences on either a personal or professional level?
On my very last wedding of 2011 The groom attempted to pick up the bride for a “unique” portrait and ripped his trousers. You can imagine the panic to find another pair of trousers before the reception. Thankfully for me it was the back side.
What’s your preferred type of camera equipment?
I use Canon and love the 5d Mark II as my main work horse.

What would you recommend for a couple just starting their search for a wedding photographer?
Be choosy, Find a photographer that melds well with your style and personality. Don’t focus so much on price but rather the value of the packages offered.
Any fun personal facts we should know about you?
When I shot my first wedding I told myself I would never do this again, it was so stressfull for me. But I stuck with it, got a few more wedding under my belt, believed in myself and now I find myself saying I would never work a 9 to 5 again I have the best job in the world.
