A mother of four and wife to her high school sweetheart, Amy is living her dream and using photography to document the little moments for couples and families. Her style changes a bit with each bride…
“It’s her day, not mine, and different types of weddings call for slightly different looks. Whatever the look the bride is going for, my goal is to use the photos to tell the story of the day and capture the moments and details that otherwise might be forgotten or unnoticed.”

Amy has loved taking photos for as long as she can remember. As a kid, she spent weekends having makeovers and photo shoots with her best friend. In addition, she took photos of her toys, her pets, and even of the kids she babysat. Amy ultimately fell in love with art of photography at 19, when she enrolled in a class at a local community college. From there she spent a lot of time studying in the darkroom, and says she wouldn’t trade that experience for the world.
“It was like magic, just putting a plain piece of paper in the developer bath and watching the image appear. I’ve switched to digital since then, so now I work in Photoshop instead of a darkroom, but it still feels magical to me.”
Amy has officially been in business since 2007.
On a professional level, Amy enjoys the work of Bobbi+Mike and Fauset Photography. However, in order to be completely authentic and to push herself to be more creative, Amy tries to avoid looking at other photographers’ work too much.Amy truly enjoys the couples that don’t let stress take hold of their day and who really take the time to enjoy each other. At a recent wedding, the planners were concerned that the cake topper had gone missing. They asked the bride if she wanted them to put some flowers on top if it didn’t show up. Her response? “Sure if you want…but it doesn’t matter…I’m married!” Amy loved the bride’s attitude and everything about that wedding.
Amy has a few tips for couples just starting their search for a wedding photographer. Number one: Decide what’s most important to you about your wedding photos and then look for an amazing photographer who’s style you love.
“Do you want lots of romantic and dramatic portraits? Look for a photographer that shows those types of images. Are you more interested in having the little moments of the day captured? Look for a photographer that uses a photojournalistic approach.”
A great way to try out a photographer, suggests Amy, is with an engagement session. She explains that this gives you a chance to get to know each other and to see the quality of the images. Remember, you’re going to spend your whole wedding day (or at least most of it) with your photographer, so you want to make sure you get along well.
Lastly, Amy recommends that couples make sure to get an album, even if they get the digital files as well.
“While you may have grand plans of ordering one later or making one yourself, the next thing you know it will be your 10th anniversary and you still won’t have an album.”
A few fun facts about our recent addition? Amy completely adores her husband and kids and “probably posts too many of them” to her blog and Facebook, but she can’t help it.
